We work hard to keep our menu fresh, always seeking the best seasonal produce from around the UK to bring you some of the very best food in King’s Cross. We’ve just updated our menu with some new dishes.
Fowey mussels are cooked in a Ginger Pig cider and cream sauce, available as a starter or main. The main is served with our triple cooked chips for a filling lunch.
Our blue mussels are from Fowey on the Cornish coast and are are classed as the most sustainable to eat by the Marine Conservation Society. They also happen to be delicious, being what we consider to be the very best estuarine farmed mussels available.
According to the Cornwall Seafood Guide: “Blue mussels are found naturally growing all around Cornwall’s coast. There are now several companies farming mussels in Cornwall’s estuaries and bays. This practice is very environmentally friendly as the mussels grow naturally, feeding on passing plankton. Unlike fish farming where large amounts of feed is used and polluting waste is created mussels have a minimal impact and the farms actually create sheltered habitat for other species. Always ask for Cornish farmed mussels.”
Another new starter is our treacle cured Loch Duart salmon. The use of this classic British black treacle, made from molasses, brings some unusual, slightly bitter flavours which work in harmony with the salmon and the earthy tones of the pickled beetroot. The dill cream brings a further texture and a tangy lift.
Gressingham duck breast is served with a fig compote, glazed baby carrots, Swiss chard and an incredible chicken liver parfait. The tender duck breast is perfectly complemented by the tangy fruit compote. The parfait is extremely light though with intense flavour, which adds a deeper dimension to the dish. Highly recommended.
All of our dishes can be paired with some amazing wines from our extensive wine list. Selected carefully by our expert sommelier Richard Weiss, the wine list features many wonderful varieties. We offer a large number of Biodynamic wines, part of our ongoing commitment to supporting organic farming and viticulture. Our staff will be happy to advise you on pairings.
